Organic, Medicinal and Pharmaceutical Chemist
Prof. Kenneth A Jacobson’s Seminar
Prof. Jacobson is a well known name in Pharmaceutical Research involving Purinergic Receptors. I have got opportunity to listen to him quite a few times by now. Today, he would be talking about the Medicinal Chemistry of the P2Y Receptors.
P2Y is a sub class of P2 Purinergic Receptors. ATP is a natural ligand for these receptors. P2 receptors have been classified into P2X and P2Y. P2X are the ligand gated ion channels while P2Y belong to the group of GPCRs (G-Protein Coupled Receptors).
Our work at University of Camerino involved mainly around P2X receptors and more precisely on P2X3.
