Chapter 2: Verse 59-60

Subject: Realisation of the Absolute

One who abstains from the attachment of senses
may be detached from sensual pleasures but his carving for sensual enjoyment remains alive. It is only on the realization of the Supreme Being (the Absolute) that his longing leaves him.

Lesson: Only on realization of the Supreme Reality (The Absolute) one is detached from carving for sensual pleasures.

Subject: Turbulent Senses

The turbulent senses, O Kauntya (Son of Kunti) do violently carry away the mind of a wise person even while he is striving (to control them).

Lesson: It is not easy to detach ones mind from turbulent sense-organs and their objects. Even the mind of wise persons is taken away violently by sensual pleasures /attractions.
