Subject: Grieving for the Dead
विषय: मृत्यु पर शोक
जातस्य हि ध्रुवो मृत्युर्ध्रुवं जन्म मृतस्य च।
तस्मादपरिहार्येऽर्थे न त्वं शोचितुमर्हसि॥२७॥
(Because) death is inevitable for the born and certain is birth for the dead. You can not do anything in this regard. Therefore, it does not behove of you to grieve for this.
Lesson: It is not good to grieve for the dead as death and rebirth are certain for who ever is born.

क्योंकि इस मान्यता के अनुसार जन्मे हुए की मृत्यु निश्चित है और मरे हुए का जन्म निश्चित है। इससे भी इस बिना उपाय वाले विषय में तू शोक करने योग्य नहीं है। ॥२७॥
Subject: Law of Causation
अव्यक्तादीनि भूतानि व्यक्तमध्यानि भारत।
अव्यक्तनिधनान्येव तत्र का परिदेवना॥२८॥
O Bharat, prior to birth and after their death, all beings are unmanifested (do not have body form). Only during the interim period, they seem to be manifested. Then what is there to concern about?
Lesson: Manifested is the perishable body. Its causes are unmanifested. One should not grieve for the perishable.
हे अर्जुन! सम्पूर्ण प्राणी जन्म से पहले अप्रकट थे और मरने के बाद भी अप्रकट हो जाने वाले हैं, केवल बीच में ही प्रकट हैं, फिर ऐसी स्थिति में क्या शोक करना है?। ॥२८॥
