Chapter 2: Verse 37-38
Subject: Bliss of Performing Duty
विषय: कर्त्तव्यपरायणता का वरदान
हतो वा प्राप्स्यसि स्वर्गं जित्वा वा भोक्ष्यसे महीम्।
तस्मादुत्तिष्ठ कौन्तेय युद्धाय कृतनिश्चयः॥२-३७॥
Determined to fight, get up O Kaunteya, if you are slain in the battle you will go to heaven; and if you come out victorious you will enjoy the pleasures of the earth.
Lesson: By performing duty one gets worldly pleasures when alive and the bliss of heaven, if died in the battle (Karma Bhumi).
या तो तू युध्द में मारा जाकर स्वर्ग को प्राप्त होगा अथवा संग्राम में जीतकर पृथ्वी का राज्य भोगेगा। इस कारण हे अर्जुन! तू युध्द के लिए निश्चय करके खडा हो जा। ॥३७॥

Subject: Desire less Action
विषय: कर्म बिना फल की आशा के।
सुखदुःखे समे कृत्वा लाभालाभौ जयाजयौ।
ततो युद्धाय युज्यस्व नैवं पापमवाप्स्यसि॥२-३८॥
You will incur no sin when you get yourself ready to fight while treating all pleasure and pain, gain and loss, victory and defeat alike.
Lesson: Perform your duty without motives of pleasure, victory or gain (desire less action).
जय-पराजय, लाभ-हानि और सुख-दुख को समान समझकर, उसके बाद युध्द के लिए तैयार हो जा, इस प्रकार युध्द करने से तू पाप को नहीं प्राप्त होगा। ॥३८॥
